Downtown Dawson’s centerpiece is the 1892 Terrell County Courthouse, designed in a “high” Victorian architectural style. The courthouse is one of the oldest in the US. Visitors can enjoy self-guided tours of this stunning architectural masterpiece, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Drop by Mark’s Melon Patch, Dawson’s famous roadside stand. This unique establishment is a Certified Farmer’s Market, and is visited by numerous school groups, organizations, and tourists every year. The best time to visit is during October, when its sunflower field is in full bloom, and the place is filled with live music, face painting booths, giant pumpkins, and more.

The Main Street Theatre and Cultural Arts Center serves as the venue for a wide variety of family-friendly events and performances.
