The city of Jasper serves as the county seat of Pickens County. The city was founded in 1853 when Pickens County was newly formed, and has been the county’s seat ever since.
Known as “The First Mountain City,” Jasper is home to several points of interest, including the Tate House, which was built from local marble, and the historic Woodbridge Inn, which is known for its terrific menu options and lodging.
Jasper is also located close to several well-known sprawling mountain neighborhoods, including Bent Tree, Big Canoe, and the Preserve at Sharp Mountain.
